Merwin's Story
Life
Merwin W. Jones graduated from Hampton High School in 1968, graduated from Thomas Nelson Community College in 1970 and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1972 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1972, I began working for Potomac Electric Power Company in Washington, DC. and have worked for them until 2000, when their power plants were purchased by Southern Energy, now known as Mirant Corporation. For the next 6 years, I was assigned as General Superintendent of Engineering at the Chalk Point Generating Station (Maryland's largest power plant) and the Morgantown Generating Station. rly Seay of Hampton, VA, (Kecoughtan, 1970) and today we have three children, Meredith, a daughter(1983) , Robin, a son (1987) and Brett, a son (1990). We live in a log house we built ourselves and moved into in 1978. Besides rearing 3 children I enjoy hunting,fishing and outdoor sports. I retired in 2006 and started a small consulting firm, Power Resources Ltd. It has really taken off! Since I started consulting, I've traveled on business to 18 states, 2 Canadian provinces, and spent almost 6 months in France over the past two years. Interestingly my best client is in Norfolk, so I get down to Tidewater frequently.
