Michael's Story
After RHS, I went to Rutgers in New Brunswick. Graduated from there in 1968.
Went off to the Army where I served 18 months in South Korea with 8th Army staff. Nearly married a Korean woman. Cooled to that idea when I concluded that she wasn't being honest with me about her previous marriage and her kids and I began to wonder if she was playing me to get in to the States.
After the Army, I went to work for National Community Bank--now part of Bank of New York. I went back to grad school and earned an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson in 1975.
In 1976 I joined Metropolitan Life. Went to work in the home office in New York the following year and was transferred to the regional office in Aurora, Illinois in 1978. I was there for the next 22 years. Took early retirement when ...Expand for more
my operation in Aurora was eliminated in a corporate reorganization--downsized, if you will.
Over the next eight years I worked for various banks and insurance companies, until I retired last July. I still teach college economics part time, making my small contribution to the cause of economic literacy.
In 1975, I married my wife, Donna. We're still together after 35 years.
We like to say that we've had thirteen children from three different species. We have two of the human persuasion--Ronald and Andrew, who were born on Christmas Day, three years apart. Ron graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2007 and works for Allstate in Northbrook, IL as a Project Analyst. Andrew graduated fromt Bradley University in Peoria. He also works at Allstate in computer security.
