Michael Becker:

CLASS OF 1966
Flint, MI

Michael's Story

Life I am married, with 7 children. 4 girls, and 3 boys. In 2005 one of our boys was killed in a traffic accident, just after graduating from high school. He was a great kid, and we all miss him a lot. I am still working, but my wife Kylene retired this year (2007). We still have a 13 year old girl, a 14 year old girl, and a 16 year old boy still at home. We also have a 22 year old girl and a 2 year old grandchild that still spends a lot of time at our house. The oldest boy is 40, working as a school psychologist, and the father of a seven year old boy. Rick got his undergraduate degree and graduate degrees from Central Michigan University. He also did 4 years as a United States Marine. The oldest girl is an accountant. She graduated from The University of Michigan, and she has two children, a boy and a girl. College I went to Mott College,(A.A) in Criminal Justice and Paramedic Certificate. Saginaw Valley University, and Spring Arbor College(BA Liberal Arts). I graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico Virgina in 1995. Workplace Right out of High School, I managed the night shift at a loc...Expand for more
al Burger King. I also worked for General Motors for about a year, where I worked the 3rd, shift and attended college during the day. Then in 1971 I graduated from the Mid Michigan Police Academy, and started in a different direction. I worked as a local police officer, and as a paramedic. I have also been employed as a police line supervisor (sergeant) for 11 years, and as lieutenant for 13 years. I have been a Captain for almost 5 years. The last 33 years have been at a county level. Being a captain is really a desk job, not unlike running a business. I also participate in the local Medical Control activities that oversee pre-hospital emergency medical care. Another activity that has been interesting is Regional planning with the State Department of Emergency Management. Why did I take the time to write this stuff? I guess I just wonder once in a while how everybody turned out. If there is one thing my particular life experiences have taught me, it is that you never know about people. It would be interesting to hear what people are doing now, who were kids once, at Flint Northern High School class of 1966.
