Michael's Story

It's unlikely that anyone really needs (or wants) to know any of this, but what the hell. Maybe this will save me a few background conversations at the reunion, that, or it might weed out people with a low tolerance for nerds. For the last 21 years, I've been the "Printing Clerk" for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in Washington. I'm a detailee from the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO); basically, I'm a rental. It's the best job I've ever had. I take raw transc...Expand for more
ripts, process them for distribution, incorporate witness changes, edit for style and clarity, code them for typesetting, and send them off to be printed. The good, and the sad, thing is that I'm interested in the subject matter -- I'd read it in the doctor's office waiting room. I've been married for 31 years and still live in the neighborhood (Between Belair Edison and Mayfield, across from the park; it's either the classy edge of Belair Edison or the dodgy fringe of Mayfield.
