Michael's Story
1968 to 1979 lived in Arlington, Va and worked for C&P Telephone. Married Caroline Jane Young in 1976 but divorced. 1979 worked for Digital Switch Corp. in Reston and relocated to Dallas, Tx in 1981 when the company moved. 1982 married Elizabeth Ann Sistrunk of Dallas and we have two sons, John (born 1984), and Matthew (born 1985). Matt now lives in Houston and is a natural gas trader. John is finishing up law school at St. Mary's in San Antonio. Earned BS from University of Texas and MS from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Worked on development of large switching systems for companies like MCI, Sprint, etc. and developed ANSI T1 telecom standards. 1996 left DSC and went to work for Samsung on a 3G wireless public network ...Expand for more
system. Traveled to South Korea many times in the late 1990's on business. In 2000, Ann and I divorced. Left Samsung in 2002 as companies downsized during the "dot com" bubble. Taught computer networking at DeVry from 2002 to 2004 then at ITT Tech from 2004 to 2011. Worked for EDS managing global Cisco VoIP systems from 2006 to 2009 until EDS was acquired by Hewlett-Packard and many jobs were outsourced. Now I am semi-retired and live in Metro Manila, Philippines where the cost of living is low, people are very devout, speak English, and respect Americans. Travel is inexpensive to destinations like Beijing, Boracay, Hong Kong, Kuala-Lumpur, Taipei, Australia, and New Zealand. The US dollar goes a long way here and life is good.
