Michael's Story

Life As of writing this, today is May 4, 2002...five years to the day that I graduated high school back in '97. In the five years since then, I've done maybe a full semester of college, worked quite a few jobs, and whaddya know..I even met someone I was able to con into marrying me....heh. I'm pretty sure that any of ya'll who remember me from either Temple or Bethel no doubt remember me as that skinny, stuttering kid who always tried too hard to be cool..lol. I can honestly say that I can look back on my high school years and not have a single regret. For the first couple years after graduation, I couldn't always say that. In the last two years though, I've gotten married, had a house built in Horn Lake, watched the birth of my beautiful baby boy, who's almost ten months old now, and I'm selling cars for a living. Anyone I went to school with....ya'll email me sometime, let's meet up again. UPDATE April 19, 2005 Wow...been almost three years since I did this profile on classmates.com. Let's see...any updates...ohyes, my little boy, who's name is Travis and was 10 months old at the time of the first writing, will be turning 4 in July. He played his first teeball game last Friday night, and I'm his coach...THAT is a cool experience. :) I'm proud to say that my wife gave birth to a SECOND baby boy, who we named Jacob, on June 3, 2003. I'm still living in Horn Lake, still selling cars...so not much has changed there. And apparently, there's word going around about a reunion of the Blue and Gold from Temple Baptist. September 10, 2005.....twenty years, almost to the day, from the first day that I set foot at Temple Baptist School. I was in the first grade, Mrs. Lowery was my teacher, and we had class back there in that little trailer that Mrs. Warren lived in. To say that I'm highly looking forward to this....understatement of the year. I am so excited over seeing these faces that I haven't seen in over a decade. The only thing I wonder is how many f...Expand for more
olks from my age group will be there. I was at Temple from the 1st thru 8th grade, from 1985 to 1993. I guess we'll find out come September. I said in my first post that I had no regrets. I guess there would have to be one. I wish I could have played varsity basketball for the Eagles. Growing up, I remember how much I looked up to those guys when I was going to all the varsity games, and when I played pee wee and jr. high basketball. To be able to put on that blue and gold jersey for the varsity, and go up against those old rivals like FCAA, Rosemark, and all those other schools...that would have been a great memory. Oh, I did play against all those schools in jr. high, but I never had the chance to suit up for the varsity. Ah well, at least I've still got an old Temple basketball jersey. I'll probably bring it to the reunion. For anybody who ever went to Temple, if you're reading this and if you remember me, I hope to see you September 10th. It's gonna be a day to remember for many, many years to come. UPDATE June 23, 2006 My goodness, does time fly by or what? I had no idea that a year had already passed since I last touched this profile. Well, the Temple reunion was fun, but slightly disappointing. Absolutely nobody from my generation showed up, despite my best efforts to contact some folks. But it was cool to see some faces that I did remember. Angie and Donna, ya'll did great!! What else...well, my wife and I just celebrated our sixth anniversary, my older son turns 5 on July 10, and he's about to start kindergarten at Shadow Oaks in Hrn Lake. My younger one just turned three on June 3. We're both getting ready to start back to college at Northwest in the fall. She's looking to major in elementary education, and I'm going in for special education. We both want to get our degrees from the U. of Memphis, so hopefully, that'll happen in a few years. I guess the next time I update this, I'll have to erase some stuff. See ya'll around.
