Michael's Story
May 19 at about 2pm mife wife Karen Joy Cardinal with her many children, family and friends was layed to eternal rest next to her mother in the Wamsley family cemetery. Karens love for her family was unrequited love. she loved them all. She will be missed.

For those of you who knew her, at 10:42 last night, 5-12-12, surrounded by her family and myself, my wife, Karen, of 30 years, mother of our son, mother to 5 more wonderful children, many grandchildren and a couple great grand children, lost her battle with cancer. she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. I would ask that you keep her and her family in your prayers at this time. Though we were seperated for the past 3 years we never gave up hope of working things out. A word of advice. Never give up hope. dont let anger get in the way. You may run out of time. Mike

Well the the date is 3-14-12, here I sit broken hearted, came to s**t and only f****d. Oh I'm sorry was just remembering.... ah never mind. Well it's spring more or less here in WV. Yes this is a state!. I still have the store and am again the only jewelry store in town now. Where they only sold jewelry I repair everything they have, well it sure seems like it. This week so far I have replaced 37 watch batteries, sent off 1 watch to NY. for cleaning. Recaned a chair, sanded and polished a marble statue, resized 2 gold rings, repaired one watch (don't know how but it's working now), engraved a med/alert bracelet, 3 different plates, cleaned and polished 6 gold and silver rings. And found time yesterday to be the guest speaker for one of our county schools. I taught a 3rd grade class of 43 young ones in geology. I go to several schools, scouting and 4-h programs every year to teach. I have had the honor of having a poem written about me. And this from a published author. This spring there is a good chance
i will be the new Post Commander of the largest American Legion post in the state again. And I will be relieving my son who is currently post commander. Now that is cool!!!!.
For those of you who know my brother Bruce, he and his lady Heather, visited me just after Christmas. We had a great time and I missed seeing them.
We have the Ramp and Rails festival coming up at the end of may to which I am on the board of directors for the
Elkins WV welcome center. Check us out. If you like onions you'll love a ramp. This stuff grows wild and is so pungent that there is an ordance in place that says you can not eat it and go to school. The smell coming out of your body odor is Sooooo distracting to other students. Ramp season 2004 I won first place at the ramp cook off. I did Ramp raviolis. I beat out a professional chef from one of our local resturants. I have been lucky in the things I gotten to do in life.
I'm going to try and get up to Laconia this summer, But finding the time is hard when your the only business in town that caters to the needs of the public. Well lets do an update. At this time I am seperated, I now live in my shop (that saves on a second rent and bills).
I have out lasted all other jewelry stores in the area and am the only one left in the city. I have daily customers that have to drive an hour to get to me. And conduct business across the country. As of now I am the first vice commander of the American Legion post 29 Elkins WV. My son Aaron is the commander. I get to relieve him in may and become commander again. I am also the finance officer, security and courts officer, child welfare officer, by one vote and I mean one vote by my son only. He thought that was funny. I am still on the honor guard and I also head up the christmas dinner/basket given away by us every year. I also coordinate all special events and dinners here. In my spare time I also cater dinners here at the legion. I know it sounds like way to much on my plate but it's spread out over the year. But it does have it's moments. And when I have nothing else to do I get to work in the shop. I get to custom design jewelry, your Ideas or mine. I can and do modify, reshape, readjust, tweek, clean, cut stones to fit, engrave all kinds of things up to and including rocks. And sell everything from rocks to diamonds and I get to tell people where to go and they do! That is for those who want to find rocks, minerals and fossils. Life
Well here we are, trying to find our past. I'm married (2nd) and living in WV. Who ever said this is god's country hasn't been to NH. After high school I enlisted in the navy. (1973-1995). And now have served 30 years (7) in the reserves. I got very lucky in that I was able to travel to 69 different countries. I've been to the pyramids in cairo, the acropolis in athens, the colosium in rome, ground zero in hiroshima japan. I had a great career. Now have a total of 72 countries under my belt. One big change is that I am now seperated and live in my shop. (these walls are closing in). I now have my own store front in Elkins, WV. Called "Cardinal Creations", (of course). I not only make and sell my own jewelery, gem trees, heiroglphics, runes, etc. I just purchased a new hermes engraver. I do engravings for trophies, gifts, plaques, etc. It is 1 of only 3 like it in WV. So I can do bowls, cups, glasses, etc. No web site yet, but that will come soon.
My son Aaron is married and has one daughter who just lhad her 4th birthday in Jan. 2011. He has since got out of the army and joined the navy res. He is employed as a correctional officer at our local prison and gets to guard his fellow classmates. (Now thats funny). Last year 2009-2010 I was the commander of the largest American Legion post in WV. 748 members, I am on the Honor guard, I hold the position as past commander, finance officer, 3rd vice commander, security officer and chair various boards. (yes i have no time to live.) With being seperated now I have time to donate to the Legion.
