Michael's Story

Life Where do I start with a life bio? Those of you who recall me probably remember that I went to the Westside skills center. I took automechanics and started working my senior year at Bill Terry Buick. My senior year when I went to counseling to pick my classes, I told the councelor (can't remember her name) that I was considering college after high school. She informed my that I was a vocational student and could not go to college! Fortunately for me I had a problem with authority. After working for a year I packed my stuff and moved to Gainesville. College life was fun so I decided on the extended program! 5 1/2 years later I had a bachelors degree in chemistry and enough credit hours for a masters but not in the right requirements. Seems I took to many classes outside my college. I joined the Navy while I was a junior on a "early entry" program. It was a reasonable deal at the time. I got paid to go to school. But they were waiting for me after I graduated. I went to Officer candidate school. Then I got married. One week after the wedding I went to Surface Warfare Officers School. I got to go home for two weeks then it was off to the fleet. I flew directly over to the med to meet my first ship. It was already on deployment during the gulf war. Our six month d...Expand for more
eployment turned into eight months and I got home just 4 weeks before my first daughter was born! We decommissiond that ship a couple of years later and I transfered to my second ship. In all I spent five years in the Navy and did three overseas deployments and several smaller deployments to the carribean and others. I got to see some of the world including: egypt, greece, turkey, france, italy, spain, sardinia, sicily, palma, chile, panama, guatemala, nearly every island in the carribean. That was the good part but the bad part was never seeing my family. I missed everything. So I decide to get out of the navy in 1994. I bounced around for a few years doing some crazy jobs including production manager at the worlds largest clam farm and tire kingdom. Finally we decide to move back to gainesville so I could go back to school. We found out we were expecting again and I found a job as a chemist. School plans were put on hold for a couple of years. Finally I started dental school in 1998 graduated in 2002. Moved south to the stuart area and started working as an associate. I eventually bought the practice. So thats were I am now practicing dentistry on the treasure coast. I spend my free time on the water, diving, fishing etc. It's been a interesting journey so far!
