Upon gradation, I tried to go down the path of criminology targeting police then I found out at that I was too short, so I quit that venture. I did not know what to do so joined the California Air Guard and when I returned and after active duty, began studying engineering. Not the preferred choice but figured I would have a better chance of getting a job. I got married to my first wife then went to Cal State Univ Long Beach after Cypress and Fullerton. Once getting the BSE, the job hunt was on but with the oil embargo, the gas tax revenue was down. There were massive layoffs of engineers, so my civil engineering prospects in California at least were dashed. I was desperate and at the last interview I attended, Fluor Construction, had an opportunity in Iran. The guy pointed to the map and I had no clue where it was but I said yes, I will take it.
