Life
In just a few lines? Here's the WinZip version.
Left BHS knowing everything there was to know in the world.
After spending 4 years at Pomona College (Calif.), U of Wis. & U of Minn, (and missing Viet Nam by 9 days, thanks to the lottery), I realized I knew nothing... so I got married to a girl from Indiana and went to work for Ashland Chemical in Minneapolis for a year.
After that year, we moved down to Crystal Lake, IL, where I went to work for the family business (which I had sworn never to do), and we promptly had 2 girls (Mary & Michele). About the time Michele was born, my wife & I realized we had about nothing in-common and that we had very little future together.
You guessed it... we got divorced (fortunately we're still good friends), and I got re-married to an aspiring opera singer from Wilmette in 1979. nal music events ranging from opera to flamenco guitar, my kids grew up, my wife sang, we traveled a good deal and life was good.
The marriage got a little rocky in the 90's and about 1997 my wife decided the "grass was greener" going another direction. We separated and were divorced about a year later. In 2000, not being a quitter, nor a good single-guy, I re-married once again - this time to a college professor of piano, who is also a staff pianist with the Chicago Symphony. She was born in Alabama, was an Air Force-brat and grew up all over the place, including England. I think this one will last (all 4 of my daughters agree). Besides, I couldn't afford another divorce!
I now have 5 grandchildren (17, 13, 13, 3 & 1 week), have almost no hair left on top of my head (still have the beard I grew in England with Mr. White right after we graduated), and what I do have left is white (it's the 4 daughters). I sold my business to a Minnesota competitor in 2016, but still run the Illinois operation and travel quite a bit. Life is good!
