Michael's Story
Life
Graduated from Shades Valley and went to Auburn. Stayed there 6 years. Finally graduated in Computer Science & Mechanical Engineering!!!
During college became professional musician. Have continued doing this at both the professional and semi-pro level ever since!!! Please visit me at MySpace for detailed info, show dates, etc. This year alone I have played over 120 shows all over Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida & Tennessee.
Currently playing with the extraordinary blues & southern rock band "South Saturn Delta" at nightclubs and special events all over the region. Also do occassional shows as a "sideman for hire" with the funky party band "Livewire", "Foul Mouth Dixie", "All About Andy", etc. Also do sound production for bands like "Within Reason", "46 Hush", "Splendid Chaos", "Lock 13", "Ugli Stick", etc.
Last year, was a busy musical year for me...I played at the Verizon Music Center (or Oak Mountain Amphitheater as we all used to know it!) several times as an opening act for such bigtime bands as Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band and even Kid Rock!!! I have played several times on the main theater stage and the sound stage at the phenomenal local Birmingham venue Workplay. And even played one show in the amazing Alabama Theater!
I played numerous fraternity, sorority and club shows in Auburn (War Eagle, Baby!), Georgia Tech, B'ham Southern, Samford, Troy, UAB and at Alabama in Tuscaloosa (Hey, you...Expand for more

I frequently play at Innisfree, Cafe Firenze, Courtyard 280, Gabriel's, Pub 261, Superior Grill, Metro Bistro, Billy's...and the list goes on!
When not playing with the band, we escape to our little place at Smith Lake and play on the water.
Took day job after college working first for family business (2-years) then for large out of state company (10-years). Did well with the company and travelled a lot. Left to go back to family business and was there for 3-years. After the tough decision to close the business, I went to work for Volkert & Associates as a project manager in their Program Management group. We act as the owner's representative for institutional facilities. My main client I work with is the Birmingham City Schools. I am involved in planning, overseeing, and in all ways manage their construction & renovation of their schools. It is a great job and I LOVE it!!!
Got married right after college, stayed married for 7-years, then divorced. That one sucked!!!
Got remarried, and have been married now for over 8-years. This one is a keeper! Have three kids (Shannon-12, Jeremy-7 and Nicholas-3) and a 16-year old stepson (Brandon) who lives in Florida, but stays with us for 2-3 months out of the year.
Haven't kept up very well with many of my Shades Valley friends (shame on me), and unfortunately missed the 20-year reunion (was playing that night!) but looking forward to the next reunion!
