Michael's Story
I had to wait until 1979 to get my B.S.
I left Tilden in 1961 and went immediatly into the Air Force. I spent the majority of the four year enlistment at a radar site in West Germany.
I sold ladies shoes, became a Postal employee and in 1967 or so worked for NY Telephone Co. as an installer.
1973 found me in the NYC Police Department working in the 73 Pct. in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
What fun...........
I was fortunate to be able to move around the Department and did stints as a street cop, firearms and tactics instructor,Organized Crime Contr...Expand for more
ol Bureau and the Queens D.A. Squad. While at the DA's Squad I was promoted to Detective.
A few years after that I was promoted to Sergeant. That promotion returned me to uniform and I was assigned duties in Brooklyn. After about a year I found a job as Executive Officer of the Telephone Control unit (believe it or not....) I spent 23 years with the NYPD. Talk about full circle.
The snow storm of 1996 chased me and my girlfriend (at the time) WEST.
