Michael's Story
Life
I was born a poor black child...no wait, that was Steve Martin. Well, I WAS born poor, but made up for it quickly by going deeply into debt.
I spent much of the 70's in an alcohol and drug induced stupor, vainly trying to compete with my heroes; Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Alice Cooper, The Eagles, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, ELO, did I miss Anyone? I'm sure I did....concerts, the Az. State Fair, Big Surf,(saw my first concert there, Chicago, of all bands!~Thank You;
Danny,Sam,Kathy,Cathy,Tonya,and I probably left someone out again!, the Super Slide, Legend City, concerts at Phoenix Stadium (long live topless chicks on guys shoulders!), sneaking into the Indian School Drive In Theater on weekends;"Fritz the Cat" on Chocolate Mescaline!!!-(it was a different time, kids, drugs weren't, uh, dangerous then).Encanto Park for free live music in the bandshell, Cruisin Central....yeah, started driving and EVERYTHING changed...Lake Pleasa...Expand for more
nt, The Flumes, camping up north~stepped on a live rattlesnake,set a world record for the hundred yard dash(undocumented), road trips to California, off to see the Wizard, strange days in Berkeley,pain pills and 'Tangled up in Blue' in Hollywood, nightmares...Now I'm a Believer, couldn't leave her,
(but I did), couldn't forget her, so I hid....had a kid....Installed a million miles of Cable TV across the country,(you're welcome or I'm sorry, depending on your view...) Anchorage to Miami, and a few places in between...a few more curtain climbers, hell, I'm easy....burned out in Cali, finally home to Az....watta difference...3 freeways?!?!.....now I spend my days with my awesome grandkids, paint when it moves me
(portraits and surreal landscapes mostly, of course!) and contemplate suicide daily by means of riding my Harley in Phoenix traffic. Those of you who ride can relate. Occasionally I put pen to paper, but if you've read this far you probably wonder why I would bother....Peace.
