Hello Class of '71! I feel so blessed to have attended Crenshaw High in the 70's. What a wonderful time to be alive. Wow! The 70's have left me with so many fond memories that time will not permit me to share them all. I was the shy kid that weighed about 110 pounds that was always criticized for being short, having small ears, and being part of a large family. My mom and dad were blessed with 16 children. I was in the first shift of kids and I was the seventh child born. Both of my parents have since passed away, along with two of my sisters (Grace & Marilyn). At Audubon Jr. High I was the kid that they rolled across campus in a wheel chair after I had epileptic seizures. Praise God, I have since been healed by God's wonderful power. I will never forget my old high school. As a matter of fact, I used to play on the lot before they built Crenshaw High. I can remember having a rock fight with some of the friends that I grew up with (Lonnie, James, and Gregory) they also attended Crenshaw High. I can remember the football games, track meets and basketball games. I pole vaulted for the track team. I had hopes of becoming a professional football player but my doctor would not clear me to play in high school due to a traumatic brain injury which caused the seizures. I also remember the guidance counselor at Crenshaw that told me that my grades were ...Expand for more
not good enough to attend college. He told me that I should go to a trade school and enter the blue collar workforce. Soon after an old girlfriend told me, "There's work at the post office." But something inside keep reminding me that I was destined for more. Therefore, whenever I need motivation I think back on the words of the guidance counselor that told me "your grades are not good enough for college." My goal now is to acquire a doctorate degree in special education and show my critics that the race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but to him that endures to the end. I have a beautiful wife that has a real estate license and works as a cosmetologist. My daughters are ages 7,11, and 34. I teach special needs 8th graders in Georgia. I am a born-again Christian and I enjoy my new life in Christ. My prayer is that all of my classmates find the same love that I have discovered. May his blessings brighten your everyday existence and cause your face to shine with the glory of his love.

I always wanted to be a professional football player when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were right at the time but I was determined to prove everyone wrong. I have my M.A. degree and I love teaching. I have one more academic goal to reach and I am eagerly pursuing that dream.
