Michael's Story
Life
After graduating from Morse I went to Mesa J.C. for a year. Then got into the operating engineers union local #12 apprenticeship program and learned to run construction equipment. In 1971 married Velda Colvin. She's the sister of Von Colvin from our graduating class of 1968. During our senior year he was killed in a gun accident. During the 70's had three daughters(all grown now)In 1973 started playing rugby for OMBAC( old mission beach athletic club.)Played regularly until 1985. Rugby became my sports passion. Although now I'm just a fan and spectator. In 2003 traveled to Australia for the Rugby World Cup.
1979 started my own backhoe buisness. 1981 obtained my general engineering contractors license.
Got divorced in 1987 and remarried in 1991 and am still happily married.
1990 started an underground utility subcontracting buisness and worked at that until 2002. Then went back to the backhoe buisness.
I love to travel and in the past couple of decades have been to Britain,Ireland, Netherlands,Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Viet Nam. Looking forward to alot more traveling in the years to come.

still live in Santee where I've lived for the past 35 years.
I have 9 grand children.
School
Didn't really have a crush on anybody - just the hots for any good looking girl.
Coach Larry Schimpf the football coach had the biggest influence on me in regard to not giving up, being disciplined and giving 100%.
I had a great time surfing with Rick Hawkins and Rick Tenbroek.
Rick Hawkins and I had a culinary arts class together. This was the first class of it's kind in the San Diego School district. It was a 2 hour class taught by a Mr. Blanchard who was a head chef at one of the local restaurants. Well, Rick and I ditched school one day to go surfing. You guessed it! We got spotted by Mr Blanchard while driving on Sunset Cliffs Blvd on our way to Ocean Beach. We got back to school in time for his class and to Mr Blanchards credit, he never turned us in.
Military
Served 6 years in the Naval Reserve from 1983 to 1989. No prior military experience was required nor did I have to go to boot camp. They let me in right off the street as E5/second class equipment operator(EO2) because of the experience in my civilian career. While I was in they sent me to Panama and New Orleans.
