Michael's Story

Synopsis of my life: From high school -- 2 years at U. of Miami, then graduated from Penn State. Early occupations were a pet shop in Trenton, 20 years in the computer world, then some time in the mortgage business (thank goodness I got out of that!)
Married in 1964 and had a daughter and son. Marriage lasted 15 years, still friends.
Married again -- twin daughters born in '93, so I'm still basically a Daddy! That relationship/marriage lasted about 20 years -- and still good friends. At school functions and doctors' offices, people assume we're married.
I mention this because of my unusual occupation: I am a divorce mediator (no...Expand for more
t a lawyer) and my selling point to potential clients is that you don't have to be enemies (and fight) just because you choose not to be married any more, just co-parents.
So you'd think I was cynical about marriage, but just to prove I'm not, after 9 years of leading an exciting single life, I met a wonderful woman (sweet, smart, pretty) and got married in May (2008). The toughest thing was commingling our animals! We swim 3-4 times a week (that's the only exercise I can do with these old bones and joints), play bridge, travel, and go to the theatre and classical music concerts. Judy is a bio-chemistry professor at Goucher College and a top class violinist. At present, we're trying to sell our houses and buy a one of our own here in Columbia, Maryland, but in this market....
