Michael's Story
Life
I am living and working in Arlington, Texas. I lived in Santa Barbara, CA for 21 years, then Orange County, CA for three years, working as a personal fitness trainer, then Director of Sales in commercial Real Estate Consulting firm before accepting an 8-month assignment in Switzerland. I traveled to and worked all over Switzerland, Austria, Bulgaria and France. We lived in the highest mountains in Europe for 4 months (Interlaken - Grindelwald, German-speaking), then on the Riviera in Montreux, on Lake Geneva (French-speaking) for the next four months. In Montreux, we were a 20-minute walk to Chateu de Chillon and a 40-minute ferry ride to Evian, France. While I was in Europe, I flew Kevan Johnston over to do some business with my employer there. When Kevan and I had our own reunion in Europe, Kevan offered me a position with his company in Texas. I eventually returned to California and decided to take him up on it. starting a new career in a great part of the country with my best friend and loving it. I love to work out daily doing weights, swimming and/or Judo and Yoga. The attached picture is of me in Geneva, May of 2004, "meditating" at the top of the highest cathedral in the city. . . goofing off as usual.
School
I was a diver and drummer in the band at Perry. Although I joined the USMC after graduating, I became a reservist and got an athletic scholarship to Dive at Drury University.
College
At Drury, I pledged Sigam Nu and had lots of fun in the fraternity, while majoring in P.E. and getting a teaching credential. During my four years at Drury, I became a 7-time collegiate All American in diving and won 4 individual national diving titles. I was inducted into the Drury Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996.
I went to Grad School at University of California, Santa Barbara. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology in 1988, publishing a portion of my thesis on coaching.
