Michael's Story
After graduating from Herndon High School in 1979 I attended Old Dominion University beginning in the Fall of 1979. I stayed a bit longer than I expected, completing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in the Spring of 1990. I married the former Janice Ann Pingatore in 1985 after my first semester of graduate school. We met in college, of course. Actually it was on a ski slope, but that's another story.
After leaving the university (finally!) we moved to King George County, Virginia to work at a Navy Laboratory.
By late 1993 big changes were occurring in our life. We achieved our dream of moving to a small university town to live on some land while enjoying college sports (and a good living). Mississippi State University welcomed it's newest Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in time for the Fall semester of 1993. It's hard to believe that time has gone by so fast. Christine is now sophomore in COLLEGE! She is studying Physics at Mississippi State University where she enjoys a full academic scholarship. Her plans are graduate school and a career in "astrophysics." The twins Alex and Kelley are seniors at Starkville High School ("Yellow Jackets") where they are top students. Alex leads her varsity high-school soccer team as captain and plays varsity tennis for the Yellow Jackets after soccer season, that is, when she's not starting at defensive mid-fielder for her Tupelo Futbol Club '96 Girls soccer team. Kelley is the school newspaper's editor-in-chief and leads the school's state-champion robotics team as chief-executive-officer. College is around the corner for both of them. They are both likely to be freshmen at Mississippi State next year, but nothing is certain yet.
With a "farm" full of dogs, cats, and one horse, we still make our home in Starkville, Mississippi. Why? It's all about quality of life. Visit us and see why!
