Mike McHugh:

CLASS OF 1969
Campo, CA

Mike's Story

Life Been a long time. Would have graduated 1969 from MEHS, but father yanked us during the summer of 68(whole family, incl my brother Dave, also attended MEHS)to Washington State. We lived on a ranch outside Jacumba, did that long bus ride to Campo and back. I have vivid memories of football, student government, folks I met and left there. Live in Carpinteria, Ca, now (near Santa Barbara). After graduating from high school in Wa State, spent a few short months in college before joining the Army in 1970. Spent a total of 5 years, 2 months, 1 day and 14 hours there, including nearly a year in Viet Nam. Recently have been thinking a lot about the old school. Have never been to the new campus; remember only the old Army buildings. Bus trips to games in Calipatri...Expand for more
a, San Pasqual reservation. Running over to Tecate for food at "Tacos con Crema" (not sure that name's correct). Beer, too, as I remember. Also remember an old saying about Tecate: "If you are tall enough to reach up and put your money on the bar, you're old enough to drink." Dave Ketchum, Francisco "Pancho" Velez and I did the student government thing togther. I was treasurer as a sophmore...we used to head into El Cajon for "bookstore supplies;" Franciso knew a place we could get a healty discount on the goods; was always enough money left over for a movie and eats. Paid for a yearbook in '68, moved before I could pick it up. If anyone out there knows if and how one could be had for that year, please let me know. Mike McHugh Class of 1969 (shoulda been)
