Michael's Story
Hey, y'all (that's the extent of my southern, i.e. GA, accent). As a brief update, after leaving novitiate in Santa Barbara, I attended Santa Monica City College. From there I went to Cal State Long Beach for BS and MA in Zoology and Biology, respectively. During that time I worked at the Nevada Test Site as an entomologist and botanist with the International Biological Program during the early 1970's. I proceeded to get a PhD in Entomology from Michigan State Univ. in 1981. While in East Lansing I met my future wife, Karen Jacobsen, a veterinarian. We settled here in Athens, GA where Karen was on the faculty of the vet school and I worked as an administrator in quality assurance. Karen is now a consultant for dairy cow ...Expand for more
nutrition, and I am the facility manager of the Animal Health Research Center at the Univ. of GA College of Vet Med. This is a high containment lab facility dealing with infectious animal diseases at biosafety levels 2-3Ag, if that means anything to anybody. We have two kids, Heather and Ben, the former married with new baby and the latter graduated in engineering school here at UGA and now working with USDA NRCS in Statesboro GA. And I just retired March 30. Life is good. Contact me at themispagels at gmail dot com, or better yet, stop by for a visit.
FYI, I just learned through a Google search that Carl Naluai passed away in July 8, 2009 in Sacramento where is was a cantor at a Jewish synagogue of which he was a member.
