Michael's Story
I live in Edwardsville,IL.I've been in this area almost continuously since 1979(except for parts of 82 & 83 when i was back in Decatur before returning to SIUE for grad school). From March of 1983 until June 2008 I was the Headwaiter and Bar Manager of Rusty's Restaurant in Edwardsville. A combination of the economy and other factors resulted in the closing of the restaurant June 2.So after taking 15 months off I went to work September 1,2009 for the Illinois Secretary of State.I am currently the Facility Manager for Driver Services in Belleville,IL(30 miles from Edwardsville).Believe me after years of complaining I have gained a huge level of respect for the people on the other side of the counter. ngle parent raising my 3 daughters:Haley 25(U of I grad 07,St. Johns Mercy Medical Center School of Clinical Laboratory Science in St. Louis 08),Jordan 20 (sophomore at Truman State in Kirksville,Mo majoring in Occupational Therapy),and Samantha 17 (senior at Edwardsville High School and joining her sister at Truman St. in the fall). Being a lifelong Cardinals' fan I love being this close to St.Louis but since my dad passed away in March 07 I find myself spending more and more time back in Decatur visiting my mom and looking up old friends.In fact there's a good chance I'll probably end up moving back in a couple of years when my youngest finishes college.
