The newest program for the FHLBI, begun in 2001, is the Mortgage Purchase Program, which purchases mortgages from member institutions. Local institutions issue home mortgages and retain a major share of their credit risk while selling the mortgages to the FHLBI, which accepts the interest rate and warehousing risks. By selling mortgages, retail banks recycle funds to issue new mortgages. The program has ten employees and generated over $7 billion in revenue in 2003.
The Mortgage Acquisitions Technical Representative is responsible for furthering BankÂs Mortgage Purchase Program Loan Acquisitions Systems (LAS) by assisting in version design, testing and providing rollout support. Introduce members to the program and provide training, business development, and work with members system providers to facilitate automation of loan data from POS to FHLBI.
