Michael's Story
After school I went to work for IBM for a year in "74" I went back to full time at Grants until Jan.. "75" I was let go, because I was going into the Air Force in Feb. "75". I signed up in "74" before my dad died Dec. 25 1974. The Air Force told I didn't have to go, because i was the last male. But I went in in Feb. "75". I finished tech. school before Dec. 25th "75" so I drove home from MS. My first tour was Cold Bay Alaska "76-77", then back to MS. I got out in "79". I went to work for RCA and back to Alaska next to Nome. But it didn't work out.
I work that summer camp, then I started working in Dec. 79 as a tech. for Electronic Specialist. I was there until 81 let go on friendly terms and went to OCCC in the fall semester as a full time student for the fall. And I went to the spring semester of 82 as part-time night student. I started that fall, but dropped out when I was called back to Electronic Specialist until 83, when they closed to move to PR. and I was asked if I would like to go with them. for just three Months, but the work wasn't there so I was sent back home. I worked a few jobs the last one was at Bugger King , which lasted a year and a half. After which I ended with me in the VA hospital in 88. I was unable to function I had uncontrolled movement disorder, which I was told it ways was all in my head for three years.
It took three years, but I got a name (Dystonia) in 90-91 while in the stated. Back in the VA system I got a conformation in 91. "89". I moved to Puerto Rico and worked with my friend as a tech. again They left and I staid. I'm on my own, I take care of myself and my mom still lives in the trailer Park until 2011 she moved in with my sister. Me I moved bask while visiting in 2012, because my Dr. saw me and said she would give me three Months to live if I go back to PR. so I staid with my sister for a time until with help found a place for myself it's been almost three years now. I have the VA, with all of the Dr.s that I see who take care and watch out for me and don't candy coat what they say!
