Life I met my spouse Truscellia while I was a lifeguard at Ogden Park on 65th and Racine. I knew her since she was attending grammar school. We use to always smile at one another and became really good friends. On my last night at the pool before going back to school at Southern Illinois in Carbondale. I was leaving the pool and as I came out the door I notice that she was sitting on the stairs, and something was wrong. I ask her what was wrong, she would not tell me and I sat down and we started talking and I knew that she was having problems with her boyfriend. I also at the time was having problems with my girl friend at the time. We talked and I made her smile. We heard the song "In my Time" by Teddy Pendergrass playing and that song made us think and pulled us closer that night. We both did not want the night to end. I didn't want to tell her that I was leaving for school the next day. That became one of the best nights of our lives, and we blocked out everything that was negative in our lives and enjoyed each other so much. Our night started at nine and ended at five in the morning. We hugged and we said what if.......... She was afraid, we made each other a promise. Over thirty years later the promise has not be broken. School My 4 years at Martin Luther King H.S were really the best 4 years of my schooling period. I have had the pleasure of knowing alot of very wonderful people period. I'm very thankful that God had allowed me to be in the company of everyone that attended M.L.K High School. It is said that college would be the best. I don't think so. I had some great moments at SIU-C but, King was truly the best time.(To Harry Campbell) I broke 3 of your swimming records and that made me the greatest and fastest swimmer in the history of King High School.
