Michael's Story

Hi there! Deb is still hanging in here with me - 38 years now. Poor Girl. Let's see. The five minute "this was your life" tour. HighSchool->Navy->NewCastle->Married, failed, Married Deb in 71. Kerry, our daughter came along in 73. Chrysler ->back to school ->Computers ->Anacomp in Indy, ended up in Toronto then to L.A. in 1984 where both Deb and I worked at USC for the next dozen years. I was the Director of Computer Operations and Systems while there. Northridge Earthquake all but tore our home in two and we decided we had had enough of L.A. We chose the midwest but warmer so we ended up in Knoxville, Tn - where we are still. I think I may have invented blogging - Ha! Actually that is not that far off as I started a daily blog in '92 that I did for the next dozen years or so. In my work Deb and I got to do extensive traveling though mostly in the US. We still have a dream of spending a good month in Paris for our 40th. Today we live on a 12 acre horse farm about ten miles out of Knoxville and perhaps 20 miles from Gatlinburg. I love this area! We have three buckskin quarterhorses,...Expand for more
four dogs and four cats. We work with dog rescue groups and all our dogs and cats are rescues plus we usually have at least one foster dog here waiting on a home. Our daughter is married and she stayed in L.A. when we moved out :-( I guess, as much as anything, I am an unemployed writer. - working on two books at the moment and I am hawking a weekly column to various periodicals. I had fully planned on attending the 2009 reunion but the night you all were partying I was in a hospital bed recovering from a total knee replacement - Oh, the Joys of getting old! You know? I have no idea how you may remember me. I was mostly a jerk in high school I think. Sad, as in looking back some of you were some of the nicest people to this day that I have ever met. Sex, drugs and rock&roll stole my soul there for the most part and so I lost touch in those last critical years with so many of you. I would enjoy hearing from any of you and if you are still in the New Castle area I do get up there to see my sis from time to time and as I live close to the Smoky Mountains some stop by the farm here. -michael
