Michael's Story
I attended UW Stout from 1970-73. My checkered academic career there resulted in a 3.0 gpa, all A's or F's. I served in the US Army from 1974-76, and was stationed in Mannheim Germany. While there I met my biological father. He was married to a French woman, and raising a family in France at the time. It was great to visit with them during holidays. I graduated from UW Oshkosh in 1980 with a degree in history. I became a campus Security Officer at UW Madison in 1980, and transferred UW Hospital Security 1996. I have been married to Kathy England since 1981. We have a daughter who graduated from MATC with an associate degree in Nursing. Kathy and I have enjoyed traveling. ...Expand for more
We have been to Europe, the Soviet Union, Alaska, China, and throughout the US. I enjoy running and biking. I have biked across Wisconsin, and completed six marathons, the most recent being in Nov 2012, where I accomplished my ultimate goal of running a Boston Qualifying time for my age group. After 33 years, I retired with a state pension in 2014. Socially, throughout my high school years, I was hopeless. Heck, I guess I still am. Regardless, I have fond memories of Memorial (Rah Old Abe's!) I also have many happy memories of my grade school years at Prairie Farm. Mr Arnie Davis-I still resent your having confiscated my paperback copy of Mad for reading it in shop class!
