Michael's Story
How do you remember me. Hopefully as a loner and somewhat unique.
I always wanted to be a pilot when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. My eyesight wasn't good enough, and my grades just weren't there. So I became an engineer. No surprises there.
To blow off steam, well I never let my temper get to that point. Now I just pray, hard. Or as they used to say, "Just pray through brother". It helps knowing I have a God that not only hears my prayers, but answers them.
After high school, my family moved north to Indian River. My mom's brother lived there, and she needed the support after my dad died. I was only fifteen when he passed away, quite unexpectedly. Man, did that ever mess me up! It took ten years of varying degrees of alcohol, drugs, women, RPG, and finally Christ before I calmed down. My relationship with the latter is what really made a change in my life. I would have to say that Jesus Christ is my hero. I mean, think of it. He has the power to Shut The Devil Up! Heal sick people, even when the doctors say there's no hope. And change a life so full of hate that he just wanted to nuke everything and start all over again. Yeah, that was me. I like the new me much better.
I moved to Columbus, OH and enrolled in the D...Expand for more
eVry Institute of Technology, where I earned my degree in Electrical Engineering. That served me well for two jobs in MI before I moved to Connecticut, my home for the past twenty four years. I am no longer an Electrical Engineer. Now I oversee the developement, testing, and deployment of embedded sofware in airborne systems. Military and commercial. I am able to work closely with the FAA, all branches of our great military, and companies like Lockheed-Martin, Boeing, Rolls-Royce and Airbus. I'm one of those trouble makers that ensures your flight experience is smooth and routine. It's our software that keeps those engines running, so your plane stays in the air. I'm glad I was a geek and a little bit unique.
I have two daughters and a grandson. One thing I've learned from my kids, is that I'm not always right. And unfortunately, kids don't come with an instruction book. Although I would highly recommend a King James Bible to shed some light on the serpentine path through life from witnessing the birth of your first child to playing with your first grandchild. Man, what a ride. But there is very little I would change. My girls are good people. And I'm not saying that because I biased, although I am, a little.
I'd love to reconnect with most of you, well maybe some of you. Drop me a line.
