Michael's Story

After graduating in 1986 I attended Iowa State University majoring in Management Information Systems. I left Iowa State University in 1990 returning to Nebraska. In 1992 I moved to Florida where I began teaching martial arts full-time at American Taekwondo & Hapkido Academy in Weston, Florida. In 1995 I returned to Nebraska and worked as a programmer analyst for 6 years before I was downsized shortly after 9/11 occurred. I then began work as a Corrections Officer. Bellevue University in 2005. In 2006 I was mobilized from the Navy Reserve and sent to the Middle East in support of Contingency Operation.s I was sent 2 more times in 2009 and 2011. Currently I am working at the Douglas County Jail in Omaha where I am a line officer, field training officer, and defensive tactics instructor. I am also the founder and president of Alpha Omega Martial Arts in Wahoo, Nebraska where I strive to teach rural residents the martial art of Hapkido. I am married and have 4 wonderful children: William, Cassandra, Sean, and Anthony.
