Michael's Story
After graduation I stayed in the St. Louis area selling hi-fi equipment. Although fun at the time, there just wasn't a lot of future in it and the desire to explore started to kick in.
In 88' I moved to Seattle, WA and started work in biomedical electronics. This lead to a passion in computers and after few years I shifted my career into computers and started working for IBM. After a few years there, I decided to take a job with Boeing (NOT one of my best decisions) which I hated.
An opportunity arose due to a friend (Thanks Kevin Hedgcock!) to enter the cellular telephone industry. This was a career that required lot's of international travel - I've lived (not just worked) in Russia, Finland, Paraguay, Mexico, Chile, and Holland. ed for a little over a year.
Anyhow, thanks to to 'dot com' burst, the company I worked for (Metawave Communications) folded and I actually enjoyed being unemployed for 4 months (burned out of travel ALL the time). A friend from my IBM days lured me to accept a software engineering position with Microsoft (developement teams of Windows 2000, and XP) where I stayed for the next 5 years.
I bought 5 acres of property in northern Idaho during several years earlier, and decided to retire from Microsoft (2003) and slow life down a bit in the Idaho 'wilderness' where I work as an IT Manager for an aviation manufacturing firm.
Still single (spent too much time traveling when I should have been settling down) but hopeful I'll eventually find my soulmate.
Anyhow, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! How about you?
