Michael's Story
Graduated, joined the Navy, rode submarines out of Hawaii for 3.5 years, discharged and moved to Kansas City MO. Began working for the Postal Service as a letter carrier there and eventually, after many years, ended up in Washington DC at HQ. Worked there for a while, transferred back to Akron district and took a couple small town postmaster jobs. Worked part-time for a while as a weekend house supervisor at the Ronald McDonald House in Akron while still employed with the postal service. Retired in October after 37 years and took a part-time job with a non-profit organization as program director for Senior Corps and AmeriCorps VISTA projects. ice work know, it doesn't pay, it's a wonderful way to spend your life. I have three wonderful sons, 29, 26 and 20 and raised the two youngest as a single dad. I've been divorced since '97 and still single.
Most people don't recognize me now, since I've become my father. :-)
Since May of 2014 through now, (October 2015), I am managing a 30 bed facility for homeless veterans. The place is called Valor Home of Summit County. It's located at 1121 Exeter Rd, Akron OH 44306, right near the intersection of South Arlington and Waterloo Rd. Stop in anytime. I'd love to see you and show you what we do for our vets. Who knows, you may get a free lunch out of it!!!
