I started Land Surveying in 1995 at Ruettiger, Tonelli, & Assoc. I had no idea what surveying was at the time, but it was a job. I spent three years there before moving to New Orleans for a short stay. Upon my return, I recieved a phone call from Local 130 (Plumbers and Technical Engineers Union) in Chicago. I had been trying to get in the tech engineers union for roughly a year with no success. A company named James, Schaeffer, and Schimming Inc needed a surveyor and I was on Local 130's list. was in late 1998. I was hired and discovered that this was 'the' premier construction layout company in Chicago. O'Hare Airpot, Midway Airport, McCormick Place, Cellular One Field, The Planetarium...all done by JSS. The Soldier Field Renovation was on the horizon and not only did JSS get the layout for the project, but they appointed me to supervise/layout the infrastructure. I would say that to this point, it is the highlight of my career. Thank you JSS for giving me the opportunity to be a part of history.
