Michael's Story

Life I guess there isn't all that much to tell that isn't in one of the other bio's. This happens to be the last bio I'm writing. I guess the only other thing I would mention is that I've been married twice...and divorced twice. I have two daughters from the first marriage and a son from the second. I don't get to see my daughters, but I see my son as often as possible. As I'm writing this their ages are 14, 11 and 6, with my son being the youngest. I've been single for a few years and live in a duplex in Saint Paul. That's about all I'll put here...if you want to know more you can ask me. Oh, one last thing...I don't know if the bio displays it, but my last name in high school was Vance. I changed it when I turned 18 to take my step-fathers last name. School Let's see, my biggest crush would have been Denise Volk. I think that crush lasted a couple of years. The teacher that inspired me the most would have been William Staab. I look back and think of a lot of things about high school and wish I could change some things, but mostly wish I could re-live some things. I loved playing football while in HS. I didn't really mature in abilities until my senior year, so I didn't see much varsity action until then, but it was still a lot of fun. College I started off going to the U of M, then ran out of money very quickly. Then I went to Northwestern Electronics institute and finished an associates degree. Later on I took a few courses at Metropolitan State University. Workplace I think when I graduated from HS I was still working as a manager at McDonald's. At 20 I went to w...Expand for more
ork at a place called Cycle Software Services as a quality control tech. Then in 1991 I joined the Army and was an 11M (mechanized infantry). What does that have to do with IT? Nothing...it was the MOS (job) that would get me the most money for school afterwards. After the Army I went to work at a place called Modine Airsystems as a LAN Administrator. They went out of business and went to work for SeperaTech, also as a LAN Administrator. Finally, I ended up here at Park Jeep. I've been here for five years. I'm the MIS Manager for this store as well as two others that are owned by the same family. Military Late in December of 1991 I went off to Fort Benning (Sand Hill) to start Basic Training and AIT. I finished up there in the middle of April of 1992. While on leave, before going to my duty station in Texas, I got married. I spent the next two years stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. I wasn't there much since the MOS I was in kept me out on training missions a lot. I went to NTC (National Training Center) in fort Irwin, CA three times. I also went to JRTC (Joint Readiness Training Center) in Fort Chaffee, AK. Last, but not least, I spent three months in Kuwait patrolling the borders and training the Kuwait forces. The training missions are not in chronilogical order. The last six months I was in HQ platoon and drove the supply truck and was a back-up driver for the company commander. While in the Army I received a good conduct medal, southwest asia medal, combat patch (1st Calvary Division), and an Army Comendation medal. I decided not to re-enlist and got out on April 20, 1994.
