Michael's Story
Where to start?
I guess Robert Hunter's most famous lyric "what a long strange trip it's been" is appropriate - as long as I can add "and it ain't over yet".
The background:
Got out of college in '73, went to work as a plant chemist and lab manager for Burlington Industries. Got married in '74. Had two kids. Moved back to Raleigh in '79. Got caught up in the early stages of the collapse of U.S. manufacturing and was found "redundant". Went to work for Cotton Incorporated in 1982 and have been there since.
I run the division that has the testing, research and logistics departments with staff in Cary, Mexico City, Hong Kong and Shanghai. This keeps life interesting.
During the past 30 years, about 20% of my time has been spent outside of the U.S. and I have been extremely lucky to see most of the world - including some parts that I don't want to see again! Currently, succes...Expand for more

Retirement? Never! If you aren't living on the edge - you are taking up too much room.
Current Bucket list:
Start a new career in something very different than what I currently do
Get a graduate degree in an absolutely worthless field of study
Buy the Ferrari
Figure out a way to get my wife on a plane for 24 hours, so that I can get her to Asia

Quick 2016 first half update..... This year has been spent "on-the-road" as usual, with an around-the-world trip in the spring to Vietnam and Germany. I just got back from a week in Costa Rica and Guatemala. I've been under instructions to evaluate Costa Rica as a place for retirement. At this point, I'll say that it has possibilities, but immigration at the airport is crazy and the traffic in San Jose' is terrible.
