Michael's Story
Michael is from Stamford, Connecticut. He is married. His schools include Rippowam High School. He later attended Princeton University. He owns and is the Clinical Director at Churchland Psychological Center. Michael has just published his first book, “Therapy According to G-d,” written in conjunction with a well respected Rabbi, Mordechai Wecker. This book looks at a wide range of clinical vignettes from my practice and traces back the affective process of therapy to ancient Torah wisdom and values. It is available on Amazon.
Books Michael likes include A wide range of Jewish sources and character development.
One of Michael's favorite quotes is:""For a difference to BE a difference it must MAKE a difference" (Carl Hemple); "Every problem is a hidden gift" "More Important than knowing the right answer is knowing the right QUESTION" (Einstein)".
More about Michael:"My life "in brief" - Graduated from Princeton 1970, went on to grad school in Clinical Psychology and got a Ph.D in 1974. Met my bride (I still call her that) during my 1st year at U-Mass and married Barbara (she changed her name to her Hebrew name, Brina, a few years ago after we became Bali T'suvah and embraced a fully Orthodox Jewish ...Expand for more
life in 1997). Two terrific kids: Eric born in 1974, Princeton '96, William &Mary Law school, married, lives in LA with 2 kids, also Orthodox, and April (she also adopted her Hebrew name, Sara) born in 1977, UVA graduate, then MSW in Clinical Social Work from Columbia, married to an Orthodox Rabbi, 4 sons (!), lives just a few blocks from us in Norfolk, VA. I've been practicing Clinical Psychology since getting my license in '76, opened my own private practice in '81, now have 4 offices, 14 therapists working for my practice, including my daughter! G-d has truly blessed me. I've been active in both professional Psychology (served as President of the State Clinical Psychological Association), and in Jewish stuff (served as President of a Reform Shul, and a few years later, my current Orthodox Shul. Go figure!) Will celebrate 48th wedding anniversary this August.
It's strange to summarize the "demographics" of my life, now over 50 years after I graduated from H.S. in Stamford Ct. As everyone says, "it seems to have occurred so fast." I try to appreciate each day, sometimes getting caught up in thoughts about mortality, but striving to focus on being grateful for so many wonderful life memories and blessings.".
