Michael's Story
Hi there one and all. I see some people actually stopped by and read this stuff so I figured it was time for a Mikey update.
My current music project is playing keyboards with the Latin Satin Soul Band (latinsatinsoul dot biz) and a couple of church groups on Sundays. I started a small recording and music production business also. Day gig to make money is writing software.
Nickel tour of Mikey's life follows.
Mike graduated from Highland High, Mike hung around the house doing nothing. Parents send Mike to Chicago to learn how to program computers. Mike gets bored and goes into music school (now defunct American Conservatory in Chicago) and studies jazz music and works in the grocery store. Eventually, dear old dad retires, forcing Mike to quit music school, cut his hair and take on a real job.
Circa 1990 ~ Mike works at Omnifilters in Hammond for about 12 years, starting in clerical and moving into accounting, computer technology and management. Mike returns to college about the same time (1990) and studies electronics at night. In 200...Expand for more
2 he earns a BS degree in EET from Purdue Calumet.
The same year Omni closes down and Mike finds a computer programming/management position in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mike lives and works in Michigan for 3 years, returning to Indiana on the weekends to play with a band.
2005 ~ Mike quits job in Michigan, returns to NW Indiana. He finds a software engineering job in Merrillville, reorganizes the band and lives in an apartment in Valparaiso. This continues for 3 years until Mike finally buys a house in Valpo (2008) and still plays with the band on the weekend.
So there you have it.
Thanks to all my Highland High School friends, especially Jim, Jim and Chris who were there for me during a severe crisis in my life. You guys are the best - my brothers. Special acknowledgment to a special person who said I was nice and gave me the courage to believe in myself and inspired me to be a better person than I thought possible. Special thanks to all the Wang Gang for the great laughs and to Mr. Manfredo who tolerated a lot of our craziness!
