Michael's Story

Life Well, things have changed quite a bit since high school. I left PC shortly after graduation and joined the Air Force. The traveling started there! I went to Texas, then Mississippi, then Okinawa Japan, then Ft Walton Beach Florida, then Korea, and then Virginia. I got out of the military in Virginia and immediately moved to Saudi Arabia for 3 years. I followed that up with a move to Nebraska, but that only lasted a year before I made my most recent move to Germany. I have been in Germany for 4 1/2 years now (Since May 99) and really like being here. I got married in 1991 to Nicole J. White, from Delaware. We met when I visited my mom in Del. Shortly after meeting (25 days later) she moved down to Florida to live with me. We were married 15 days after that. Yeah, it was one of those whirlwind things, and everybody said that we had no chance of making it work. Well, here we are 12 1/2 years later, still making it work. About 11 months after we were married, Nicole and I had our first child, Laurie Lynn Woodruff. Laurie is currently involved in ice skating. She has been skating for about 3 years now. She captured the gold medal in her second competition ever, and had a full page picture and article in a March 2001 issue of the European Stars & Stripes. Since then she has brought home 5 Golds, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze. In 1995 we had our second child, Tristan Vincent Woodruff. Tristan is currently taking taekwondo lessons and playing little league baseball. He has earned his Purple belt in tkd and is an all-star first baseman. I was not able to make the reunion due to living in Saudi Arabia at the time. Wish I could have been there. I did get the video and it looked like it was a really good time. I am going to try to make it to the next reunion whenever that is going to be. Please drop me an e-mail sometime. I would love to hear from old friends and hear how you are doing. School Doing a school bio is kind of difficult since I moved around so much in life. I started school in the Philipines back in the early 70's. I was there for K-2nd before moving to New Jersey. In Jersey I attended elementary school on base and eventually started jr high at Northern Burlington. I didn't make it thru my first year th...Expand for more
ere before we moved again. This time to Florida. We moved to Eglin AFB in Ft Walton and I attended jr high at Lewis JHS. It was tough making friends at first there, until Ricky Douglas, a neighbor from down the street, kind of helped me get in the right crowds. Being too small for football, I joined the band as part of he drumline. Being in that band was some of the best times in my life. And one time in band camp... Hahaha, actually there are quite a few of those stories. After jr high, I moved on up to Niceville High School. I remember that being a little bit of a difficult adjustment. After working so hard to gain some popularity in jr high, I was right back to being an unknown in high school. Again I was with the band and had some great times, while I was there. But the dreaded move came again. This time we did not move too far, but it was almost worse. We moved 80 miles down the road to Panama City, where I attended Rutherford High. A rival school for Niceville. This time I did not fit in well with the band, so I dropped out. I had a bit of a rough time finding friends here as well. Most of the others in school had known each other their entire lives, and I was he new guy again. Well, I was saved again eventually. Tommy Doorman took me in this time and made me feel welcome. There were others too. I remember Tammy Chilcott was one of the first people to even talk to me. Tiffani Batt was one of the first to make me feel welcome. I eventually found my place. There were a lot of good time thru high school. Keg parties and such. I took Amy Ericson to the junior prom. Kris Emmons asked me to the Sadie Hawkins dance in our senior year. I didn't attend the senior prom, I figured it would be more fun to hang out with my friends down at the beach. Kind of wish I had gone now. Then my last big fling at Rutherford was a year after I graduated. I attended the senior prom with Carina Doromal while I was home for the weekend from training in Keesler Mississippi. Well, that was the quick run-down on the school days. If you were a part of them and I didn't mention you here, I'm sorry. If you would like to catch up on the old days, shoot me an e-mail and we'll see if we can bring back some of the memories. Take care.
