CLASS OF 1975
Tucson, AZ

Michael's Story

My wife and I own Morrision-Barrios L.L.C. we manufacture an emergency temporary bicycle spoke called "FiberFix Spokes" and sell it all over the world. It's a side bussiness and you can see it at your local bicycle store as well as the internet. My wife works in medical research and got her Masters from ASU. Right after graduation I was selected for Who’s Who Among America High School Students 1975. Took a year off then enrolled at UA to study art. After a couple of years gave up being a starving artist and became a working photographer. Married then divorced after 23 years. Remarried in 2000 to the only one who has ever met my wit and ambition. In 1998 I was elected Democratic Precinct Committeeman for Pima County and served a 2 year term. I was a Small Claims Judge for 5 years. A member of the Pima County Sheriff's Assist Group for 11 years. Cast as a movie extra in several films and was featured on Antiques Roadshow. I’m still carrying a Nikon camera. I have had my work published in auto magazines and travel guide books. While attending the UofA I was fortunate to meet and talk to Eugene Smith, Ansel Adams and studied under Lou Bernal They all stressed the camera was just a tool to move people in one direction or another. I still don’t know what I want to be when I decide to grow up. In my spare time (Yes, I find spare time) I have written a couple of movie scripts and just finished my first pilot for television courtroom drama, Bec...Expand for more
ause of the writers strike I was approached by a publishing company to turn it into a novel. I used to manage my son's punk band "Less Than Famous.” My son Mattt writes music, sings and plays drums, guitar & keyboards for Lo Blow. They are signed to a record label. Search "Lo Blow band” on YouTube to learn more. He also acts in independent films and is employed as a photographer and graphic designer for a local advertising agency. His girlfriend and him just recently welcomed a little girl so that makes me a granddad. I have a daughter Crystal (that's her in the photo) who was a runner-up in Miss Teen Arizona and has a degree in psychology from UofA. Now married and working in Denver. My step-daughter also a UofA grad got her degree in (VISCOM) media arts and is the creative arts director for a major talent agency in Los Angeles. She is also happily married. We have a little place in Beverly Hills, a Tucson home and an old apple farm in western Maryland. I've been working for the past 30 plus years at Pima County Superior Court Clerks office. I was always told crime doesn’t pay but I’m doing alright. When you come to Superior Court feel free to find me and say "what-up." I know you will have to someday do jury duty, come to a court hearing or get a passport.. I still look the same but grew a mustache so I wouldn't get carded at the clubs. Remember ......"Opportunities in life are only visible to those with vision.” -Michael Barrios
