I enrolled at Nevada Southern University (now UNLV) after graduating from Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, and flunked everything I took except PE (bowling). A classmate and I decided it was time to try something else and joined the Army together. Three years later, I had experienced the building of the Berlin Wall first hand as a member of an intelligence unit in Germany and was rewarded with four extra months for the honor. Leaving the Army, I returned to NSU part time for four years and became active in the Newman Club. I was eventually elected President of the national organization and moved to Washington, D.C. to serve my term. There, I was involved with heads of other youth and student organizations in our country and around the world.
