Michael Berry:  

Lived on E. 24th street, accross the street from HPHS. First job I ever had was washing dishes at Scotties Drive-In. Hung out at the Delta Drive-In alot and spent time at Allen's too. Paid $110 for my first car, a 1949 Ford Club Coupe in early 1963. Gray car that I "jacked up" in the front and painted the wheels red too. Don Brock, Vocational Agriculture teacher was a favorite of mine, along with Milo Heatwohl (sp?) Spent high school years in FFA and enjoyed everyone in high school too. I was pretty much a "loner" but I remember many classmates, even tho' I imagine not alot remember me. Learned to dance from Jackie Jost, and lived near Larry Looka too. I think of the cars of my classmates and always had an interest in them. Like Larry Bervert's '62 Chevy Impala with the 409 engine, and Jerry Houck's Corvette too. Even enjoyed Gerald Walker's chevy and Buddy Brooks '48 sedan as well. (sure hope I've spelled names right) Left Topeka about 1965 and spent the rest of the "60's in Southern California. Back to Topeka in '70, left for Amarillo in '71. Spent from 1978 'til 2005 in Wichita. Lived on a five acre place just north of Augusta, KS until we sold out in 2007. I started my nearly 45 years machinist career in the LA area and was doing that when I retired from Boeing in Wichita. Married for the "umpteenth"...Expand for more
