Michael's Story
After graduating from the University of Puget Sound, I went to work for Vice President George H. W. Bush on his White House staff. I moved over to his campaign office in February of 1987 and joined his administration on January 20, 1989 (the very first day!).
During the Clinton years, Mark and I lived in Atlanta where I was vice president of Fleishman-Hillard, one of the world's largest public relations firms. I served on the national finance committee of the George W. Bush for President campaign and ran the campaign's Georgia press office. In November 2000 I opened Fleishman-Hillard's Seattle office.
Karl Rove asked me in January 2001 to join the Bush Administration, but I declined..I was living "happily ever after" in Seattle with my dream job in a dream house with a terrific Lake Washington vi...Expand for more
ew in Denny Blaine and designed by Ellsworth Storey in the early 1900s.
After 9/11, Mr. Rove asked again. I started work two weeks later at the State Department, working for Secretary Colin Powell on a public diplomacy initiative to win the hearts and minds of Muslims outside the U.S. After Gen. Powell left the State Department, I served at the U.S. EPA.
Wanting adventure and to live abroad, Mark and I started a vacation rental and property management business in Costa Rica; we divide our time between our homes in Los Suenos and Washington, D.C.
I'd really like to re-connect with people from OHS. I get to the Pacific Northwest a couple of times each year. Shoot me an email; I'd really like to hear about your life. My address is michael at meadbrown dot com.
Warm regards from paradise,
Michael
