More about Michael: immediately after high school he went to attend East Central State University. He suffered academic burnout and dropped out university in the Winter/Spring semester of 1983-84. After recovering with his parents in Comanche, Oklahoma he joined the United States Marine Corps in the month of December of 1984 had he completed his training, he would have left of Marines with the rank of First Lieutenant. But he suffered an injury to his back during physical training that left him with a chronic back injury, which went ignored until he finally left the Corps in April of 1985. After staying with his parents a few months and working as a temp at the Hallibuton main office in Duncan, Oklahoma, he went to the Guthrie Job Corps in Guthrie, Oklahoma where he underwent technical training in office clerical procedures and data entry. While in attendance at Job Corps, he rediscovered his love of theatre and in 1987 joined the original cast and crew of the Pollard Theatre. , Oklahoma, and can boast of being Oklahoma's only year-round professional theatre. Having practically walked in off the street, Michael parlayed a walk-on part in the acting troupe's premiere production, the classic musical "Guys and Dolls" into a two and an half years long stint in professional theatre. While working ( albeit in a non-paid position in the Pollard Theatre's troupe, Michael used the stage name "Ralph Nicholls" and even received favorable reviews for a few of his supporting/character roles (most notably Mr Pinkus in "The Front Page" and Fleetfoot in "Little Mary Sunshine", and Tim, the Assistant Stage Manager, in the smash hit British farce, "Noises Off") Within the first six months of joining the Pollard Theatre, Michael became both the Assistant to the Production Coordinator, Donna J Dickson (who won a walk-on speaking role in the motion picture feature film, " Rainman") and the Assistant to the Technical Director, Lance Reese. After leaving the Pollard Theatre in the spring on 1989, Michael did a short stint as a circus roadie for The Allen Brothers Circus, then he travelled with the touring amusement show, Amusements of America. The first nine months he remained with Aof A he served as a "ride jock" on the Chance amusement ride, "Sea Dragon" after leaving the Sea Dragon he worked another four years as a highly successful games agent, during which time, in late 1994, he met actor Andy Garcia and one of the head writers of the television sci-fi series, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". After leaving Amusements of America, Michael worked in Hi-Tec Manufacturing, Inc. It was during his last year with Hi-Tec that he met the woman who was to become Michael's first wife, Star E.
