Michael's Story

Life I joined the Army National Guard about ten years ago, taught High School for a couple years and then Joined the Army full time. I've spent a lot of time deployed since 9/11 but my wife, Robin, and I are still loving it. I'm a Field Artillery officer and was promoted to Captain in Sep 04. We've spent time living in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and in May 05 we moved to Clarksville, TN where I am assigned to Fort Campbell, KY. We have a beautiful little boy named Adam who is seven and a little girl named Amanda that is three years old. My battery operated out of a small patrol base in Lutifiyah and partnered with an Iraqi Army Infantry Battalion. We had some good success and when I gave up command in July we turned the entire patrol base over to the Iraqi Army. Since then I've been working as the assistant operations officer for my battalion and we returned to the states in Nov 08. It's great to be back. I just go orders to move to El Paso, Texas to train other units. No more deployments for me for a few years. The wife is very happy. :)
