Michael's Story
Just messing around alot--
After 5 years in general medicine (I saw the real world), I felt a desire to return for fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and stayed working nights and weekends with my original group to put food on the table and make house payments while using the Medical College program in Milwaukee. ifferent groups worked well together for the Cardiothoracic programs. Then I was Director of the Long Term Respiratory Unit. But the time demands, committees, etc were taxing, and so, since I really like to work in the hospital, I accepted an offer to be the charter Hospitalist for one of our newest affiliated hospitals. I miss much of the patient care of an office practice, but I have options should I decide the crazy hours are too crazy. It been a great career, and I don't regret much/any of it.
