Michael's Story

Life I have been married since 1969 to Susan (Tannenbaum) whom I met while an undergraduate at Penn State. Susan is a Professor and Department Chair in Social Work at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. We have two children- Josh who is a graduate student at California State University at Sacramento, and Emily who works in the State and Local Government Risk Department at Lexis Nexis in Washington, DC. Emily got married this summer to Patrick Ceresa and they will continue to live in DC. s an Elementary School Teacher in the Darby-Colwyn and Haverford Twp. School Districts. I later taught at Mayville State College in North Dakota. Then after spending 20 years in various teaching and administrative positions at Penn State University (University Park campus)- including directing the Ronald McNair Scholars Program, I left there in January 2001 to take the position of Director of Program Coordination of the Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate Program at Howard University in Washington, DC. In July 2006 I returned to Penn State as the Assistant Director of Graduate Education in The Huck Institutes of Life Sciences. December 2007 I was promoted and am now the Associate Director of Graduate Education in the same unit.
