Michael's Story

Life Well, since graduation, I have lived in St louis, Detroit, New Orleans, London England, Bristol United Kingdom, and now reside in Atlanta, Ga. I married Julie Rowland in 1991(we all make mistakes) and divorced in 1996. i have one child Garrett who lives with me full time and is now 15. I remarried in 2002 after a few years of enjoying life to a great woman named Tami. She has two daughters from her previous marriage, so we no have three teenagers in the house 19, 15, and 13. Xanax is a wonderful drug. I still mess with cars, but only has a hobby. I have a restored 4X4 truck, and Jeep in the middle of restoration, and my wife has a 1971 LS5 corvette which we have completely restored. It's relaxing for me and gets me away from the drama of the kids. Overall, life has been good since leaving high school, no major issues to speak of. Divorce is fun, I highly recommend it, I mean between the lies, the cost, the negative outlook it creates on the instution of marriage, who wouldn't want to experience that? I haven't gained weight or lost it, I haven't gained hair or thankfully lost it, haven't orphaned my kids, but have thought about it! School Mulkeytown grade school, great experience and am glad I was able to be a part of the final years for that school. Lot's of good memories there and strange ones, from watching one girl (no name mentioned) fall off of the merry go round, into the middle of it actually, you know the ones that you sit on that have the open area in the milddle that you can stand inside of and push. Well, anyway, she was inside of it pushing, tripped and fell, and just kept raising her head up only to get dinged each time one of the bars came around (i think there were four) anyway, I remember it like it was yesterday, just sitting there in awe wondering why this girl just wouldn't lay down until it stopped. It was like "Thud" I'm ok, "Thud" i'm ok, over and over and over again......hope this girl didn't suffer any long term affects! Ok, that was one of the strange memories, now onto one of the good memories. One of the last few days of school (Grade school) and we were all working in the gym preparing for graduation. I went back to the classroom for something and the next thing I knew, two girls Jackie B and Kara G (names shortened to hide their identity :-) ) had shut the door and wasn't getting out until I kissed Kara. Don't really remember much after that, but at my current age, I would pay good money for that type of scenario to happen again. I guess sometimes good things happen to you and it can be years later before you realize how good it was. High School- I'm just not prepared to begin talking about my experiences right now, maybe later. College Southern Illinois University- Bachlors Degree in Applied Sciences graduated in 1990 Great 3 1/2 years, grew up allot and made some great lifelong friends. Since I am currently married, everything else about my college years is private. :-) Workplace During my last year of college at SIU, I was selected by EDS (Electronic Da...Expand for more
ta Systems) to participate in a post graduate internship with them in St louis. EDS is a division of General Motors, and since I have a thing for cars, this was a great opportunity, plus it gave me some much needed credit towards my masters degree. Well, after one year with EDS, I hired on full time with them where I worked as a systems engineer on the automotive controls team. This was 1991, by 1993 I was working the on the robotics team that handled plant assembly operations. This continued until 1997 when I was promoted to director of automation for the Federal Mogul division, this division was the key OEM parts supplier for GM and had 27 different products from Fel-Pro gaskets to Moog Chassis. I started presenting some of our custom applications to the Society of Automotive Engineers in 1998, these were common industry meetings that occured during the North American Auto shows, so I traveled to each show and presented our developments to other companies in the auto industry. (By the way, I always lived in Christopher IL during this time, I flew out to Detroit or where ever I needed to be each week....yes, each week for almost 7 full years.) In late 1998 I was approached by a company called ORACLE, they were very big in computer databases, but were also ramping up their application products and were looking for someone like me to head their Automotive industry practice. I accepted a postion with ORACLE in late 1998, from that time i spent countless weeks working with everyone from DELL Computer in Austin, TX to General Electric in New York. Normally I would spend anywhere from 1 month to 6 months working with these clients on implementing ORACLE applications. The nice thing is that I got to work with some great people in some great places like San Francisco, Seattle, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Miami, London England, Bristol UK, Toronto, Montreal, and the list goes on. I don't think there is any major US city I haven't spent a few weeks in and several foreign cities too. In 2002 I moved to London England to work on an ORACLE project for General Electric, loved it and would move back in a heart beat. Then I went to Bristol UK for another ORACLE project for a company called Xerox, but I decided to commute back to the US every two weeks for this project. I continued working and traveling with ORACLE until July of 2006, when I was approached by a head hunter for SAP. SAP is the worlds largest industry applications provider, they are to corporations what Microsoft is to the common computer user, so I was another big step for me. I hired in as a director of Banking and Financial Service Solutions and am still in that role today. I work weekly with Toyota, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, etc. I really like what I do, I love to travel, and I have had a dramatic change in career direction since graduating college. Things have evolved for me in a very positive way and I am thankful for the opportunities I have been given. Military No Military experience
