Michael's Story
Life
I'm a physical education teacher and coach. I am single with no children. I have played college baseball, bowled on a collegiate bowling team, coached college softball, and made the Dean's List 6 times. If a former teacher is reading this, yes its true I finally tapped into some of that "potential". I currently teach and coach at a school district in the KC area. I taught phys ed in New York for one year. The sites were awesome but the kids were a pain in the butt, probably like I was in school....lol I have lived in Lenexa most of the time but currently live in Shawnee.
School
I really think my experience at Schlagle was rather dull. I really only have three things worth remembering at good ole F.L. Schlagle HS. 1. All the good times with the skip crew, that was fun, it's too bad we all didn't stay in touch. I did keep in touch with Derek Hendrix and Tim Smith for a couple of years. Steve Kendall, saw my boy a few times when he was in the KC area on military leave. See Rob Villalpando everyone now and then. The other two things I remember are A: Mr Flint's constant support and telling me I...Expand for more
could be anything I wanted to be in life because he saw the "potential" in me. B: Mr. Nelson telling me I could make the college baseball team if I have a "good day". So I guess I made him look dumb when I walked on at college. So I try to be a lot like Mr. Flint when it comes to shelling out advice because when you get right down to it, you can persevere if you work at something hard enough. I think that if you keep telling someone they "can do it" eventually over time they start to realize "damn, maybe I can do this" and then the goal appears within reach. Look at me, who would have thought I would be a teacher. I get paid to play games and have fun so I guess the joke is definately not on me.
College
College was the best time of my life. At K-State the rec center changed my life, for a few years anyway. Most students put on the freshman 15 but I chunked down instead of chunking up. Aggieville was the place to be after whipping KU's butt in football. KKKKK, SSSSS, U U Go Cats!!
Workplace
What can I say. I get paid to play games, organize activities, hit grounders, and give advice. Life is good!!
