Michael's Story
Life
During my senior year at Lakewood I enlisted in the United States Navy in the nuclear power early enlistment program. After graduation I was sent to boot camp in Orlando. I then attended basic propulsion and engineering classes followed by machinest mate "A" school in Great Lakes Illinois. I served on the USS Noa (DD841), and the USS (Glennon DD840). It is true join the the Navy and see the world. I was in more than sixty countries during my enlistment. I was discharged as a second class petty officer.
I married Sharon Sutton (class of 1971) in December of 1972, we have been married for 34 years. I have 2 children Michael Conan Rutan 33 years old and Noel Cherie' Rutan 29 years old. I have 1 grandson Michae...Expand for more

I went to work for the city of St. Petersburg in September of 1974 and retired January of 2006. I am enjoying retirement and plan on stay active. I have many irons in the fire. I am very involved in the Florida Frontiersmen. We do living history re-enactments pre 1840 (rendezvous), I love to hunt and spend time in the woods and swamps of north Florida and I am a partner in a hunting camp (Sawboys), which is located in Salem Florida, about 18 miles south of Perry on US 19.
I also have an extensive stamp collection, I collect orientalia, including erotic ivory carvings, ceramcs and books.
