Michael's Story
Graduated from UCONN '73
Emigrated to Berkeley California and attended Cal Berkeley and earned a M.A. in Industrial Psychology
Moved to Laguna Beach CA - Attended University of California Irvine and earned an MBA and Ph.D. in Industrial/organizational Psychology
Became faculty member at UCLA School of Business and worked as Project VP at Psychological Associates in Los Angeles
Joined Xerox Corporation in 1979 as Director, Organizational Effectiveness. Became Group Director in 1983. Became Corporate Director of Quality in 1985 (Stamford CT)
Moved back to Laguna Beach in 1988 and formed my own management consulting company: MJS Associates. Just celebrated my 26th year as President. have done a lot of writing (check Google) and have had the good fortune to travel the world for work (I've had clients in over 32 countries) and for fun (add another 17 countries). Have racked up over 5 million frequent flyer miles (anyone need tickets?).
Very active in all ocean-related activities. Currently residing in Laguna Beach - Have always lived within walking dista...Expand for more
nce to the Ocean - Avid surfer for 30 years (license plate is "OK2SURF"). Served at Regional Board member for the Surfrider Organization - staying politically active in support of coastal ecology. Latest victory - my committee led the charge in the movement to ban plastic bags in the State of California. Still trying to channel some of my 60s activism to something constructive.
Still (thankfully) healthy and enjoy life out here on the left coast. Was happily married and now divorced (still great friends with my "x"). No kids.
My mom still lives on Cape Cod (since 1985) and I get back to visit as often as I can - for Holidays/the 4th of course.
Sister (Aquinas Grad '64) currently residing on the Cape also. So my trips to "home" now mean Massachusetts or Florida (Mom's Winter residence).
