Michele's Story
After graduating I went to Contra Costa for 2 years. I then married but it only lasted 4 years. I worked for the Oakland Tribune as a Private secretary for the Entertainment Editor which was a really fun job. I talked to and met many celebraties. I then went on to work for the Richmond Independent for awhile until I was in a car accident and was unable to work. I had remarried and had a son who is now 37 and lives in Idaho with his family. Again divorced I return to school, Contra Costa College for another year and received my AA in Early Childhood. I went on to Cal State Hayward and received a BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology. I remarried and have been married for 32 years. We had 6 children all together,my son, Shawn, his 2 daughters,Stephanie & Jennifer and 3 of our own 1 daughter, Christina and 2 sons,Ryan & James. nued. Since I live in the same area, my children had some of the same teachers as we did at Fairmont, Portola and EC. Kind of interesting when going to back to school night. It really made the teachers feel old! I keep busy with my daycare and preK out of my home. My husband is planning on retiring next year, but plan on continuing in my business for at least 2 more years. The children keep my young and on my toes. March 2011, My husband retired Aug. 1, and is finding it hard doing nothing. He volunteers in a local school, kindergarten 2 mornings a week which he enjoys. He decided to take up golfing after not playing since before we got married. I thinks that great, the exercise will do him good. I have a full house with my childcare business, 6 children ages 6 months youngest, 4 year old is the oldest. All my own children are doing well and I'm very proud of them.
