Michele Maddix:

CLASS OF 1982
Pierrefonds, QC

Michele's Story

Life From graduation in 1982, I went on to university. Unfortunately, my mother became gravely ill and I ended up quitting school. I then met and married my husband, Jonathan Maddix, and we had our first child, a girl, in 1987. We had a boy in 1993. As far as what I have been doing, besides marrying and starting a family... Five years after graduation, I became a Communications Specialist (fancy name for a dispatcher) for the New York State Police, and have held that position ever since. When my son went to kindergarten, I returned to seek my bachelor's degree. Part time for the first 4 years, now I have only this and next semester (full time) until I graduate. It is long overdue! asters in Computer Science ==================================== 2/23/06 Well, last year brought about major changes in my life. Early in the year came a divorce after an 18 year marriage. Also, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and I began work on my MA/PhD program in Spanish concentrating in Latin American Literature and Literary Criticism. I am simultaneously maintaining a moderate-to-high fluency in French. Languages are a passion for me, and I plan to keep learning as many as possible until the day they put me in my grave. My older child will graduate from high school this June and the younger just turned 12. They are great kids!! I love 'em to death. Wow, how time flies!! --- Dec 2008 Still plugging away at the MA. Expect to achieve that (finally) with the completion of the upcoming spring semester. Then... well, that is one big question. If I earn a high score on the 10 hr exam required to receive the Masters, then I will be asked back to continue on with a PhD. But, finances may stall that, and besides I am in need of a serious break from the school/work/school/work cycle.
